Crazy issue: Router stops responding [seemingly at random]

Hi all,

I have a simple setup of a Mikrotik router [RouterBoard 750] as a gateway with DHCP server enabled.

Everything works. All clients are connected and they can all access the internet.

However…once in a while (about every 40 minutes to 2 hours) the router stops working. I cannot even ping it at this time (from any connected device)..then after about 1-2 minutes: Everything is back to normal.

The event log in webfig says nothing has happened.

So, I thought it perhaps was a hardware issue. Set up my secondary router (same model)…however, I get the same issue.

WEIRD!

I am running:

Is this bug/feature/issue driving me up the walls? U bet!
Firmware: 3.24
RouterOS: 6.34.1

Please, anyone, any ideas are welcome!

Thank you.

Sounds like you have a loop in your network

You should also check the ARP entry on the machine used for management. It might be the device is not replying back - leave a ping to run and clear all MAC entries once you experience the weirdness. A packet capture always helps in these situations to see what’s moving on the wire.
