Creating and sending custom packets, plus monitoring

So far the only successful means of generating traffic between my AP and client is using the bandwidth test tool. This is sending out random data though and what I would really like to do is define a packet payload somewhere and send that. At the receiver I would like to monitor the PER. How can I do this? The traffic generator does not seem to cover the custom packets, and the traffic monitor does not give me what I need on the PER side. Any ideas what I can do?

please check wiki.mikrotik.com on traffic-generator. where you can define the packet or even inject a previously captured packets stream.

Is this the page you are referring to? http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Tools/Traffic_Generator

It is terrible, and the wiki is so poorly put together as a whole. The program is a GUI but the wiki is only written for the command line! I tried to follow this with the GUI but there was no place for me to put in the payload for the packet, I could only select the header type. If I hit start, it does not start, still says “running no” in the bottom left of the window. Is there any place to find step by step instructions for the program?

Also where are these packets being sent? I am also unable to find on the generator where I define the IP of the receiver. I only have two nodes and thus far it seems like they cannot multitask and sniff the packets while they are receiving the packets. Should I be running the traffic generator on the transmitter and the traffic monitor on the receiver?

Some subjects must better explain.
