CRS 317-1G-16S+ Refuses to go into SWOS

I am unable to get my CRS 317 to get setup in SWOS. Help!

What does log say ?
Did you change system routerboard setting bootos to swos and then reboot ?
Any other error message ?

i would refuse too

Each time I try to switch to SWOS i get the error message “Not Allowed By Device Mode” I have the CRS resaet to factory default with no config.

Then you first need to change routerboard setting in device mode.

Device-mode - RouterOS - MikroTik Documentation

It’s probably set to something else than ‘advanced’.

I am going to do a full reset with Netinstall

No matter I try it won’t reset to SWOS

Did you change setting for routerboard in device mode ?
Did you after reboot set boot os to SWOS ?

Yes and I unpluged the power lite it said in the description

Can you show output of
/system device print

You need to first set it to advanced,

/system/device-mode/update mode=advanced

then:

Starting from RouterOS version 7.17 device-mode restricts SwOS/RouterOS transition for dual-boot; in order to enable: system/device-mode/update routerboard=yes

First change device mode to advanced mode.
Reboot

Then change routerboard setting in device mode, as already suggested a couple of times.
Reboot

Then change routerboard/ boot os setting to swos.
Reboot.

I solved my problem.

Step 1) Downgrade router to version 6.49.17

  1. Reboot

  2. Downgrade Routerboard to 6.49.17

  3. Reboot

  4. Login to WEBFIG and change Routerboard to boot into SWOS

  5. Boot in to SWOS was sucessfull

  6. On my laptop I setup the following

I/P 192.168.88.2

Subnet 255.255.255.0

Gateway 8.8.8.8

DNS 8.8.8.8

Login ti 192.168.88.2 was a success!

I hope this helps someone else that is stumped like me. Thanks to all that replyed to my question.
