Hi,
New to Mikrotik, and are in need of some help deciding on equipment for a WAN distribution project.
We are going to distribute Internet (through a leased dark fiber from ISP) to customers in a industrial area.
My thought was to have a CRS-317 as the ServiceRouter and the HeX POE (RB960PGS ) as a CPE type equipment in Bridge mode.
This would allow for customer to receive a public IP for their Firewall’s outside interface.
The connection betveen ther CRS and Hex are single-mode fiber. We would like to have bandwidth control/management for both the CRS and HeX.
Would this equipment be appropriate for my task ?
Appreciate all help.
Probably not. The CRS line really are more of a Switch than a router. You ca see the routing performance at the bottom of the product page. Although they have a full blown RouterOS the L3 really isn’t designed for routing.
If it is a single fibre input and you only need 1 SFP you could look at an RB3011 or possibly a CCR1009.
I test with 2 of them in office and run into different problems with rc firmware (you have to use rc at this point which means beta).
I see lockouts which vanish after an upgrade between rc’s. I see not reachability which vanishes after a reboot. I see statements in export which are from older configuration. Together with the new bridge implementation (which you have to get used to) this is realy a work in progress and no production system at this point. I hope with 6.42 stable this will be usable.
Hi,
So basicly I have bought an unfinished product !!
Would the CCR1016-12S-1S+ do the trick, or should I turn my head towards Cisco ME34xx series ?
Again, we want to make use to a leased black fiber, and distribute this capasity to customers through fiberlinks.
That is why we consider the HeX PoE as a CPE device to the customers.
