CRS - master-port outter world connection

Hi,

manual http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:CRS_features#Port_Switching states that master port cannot be used to transport data outside the box. But when I connect cable to the master-port I can from attached PC access the device. I am little bit confused. Can I use the master-port to attach other devices to the switch or not?

You can use the physical port which is the master-port to attach other devices to the switch.
The master-port defines which interface has an access from switch-chip to the CPU. Basically, it defines the interface which must have an IP address to be accessible through the switch-chip and do the routing.

Master port doesn’t need to have ip. The switch will do switching regardless ip.
