CRS Switch Questions

Hello,

Couple of questions.

I have a couple of CRS switches with a large number of VLANs come in via trunks. I know I need ingress translation filters so untagged traffic coming in on specific ports become tagged. Do I need egress translation filters on the same ports to strip out going packets of their tags? Or is this automatic by simply not having an entry in egress-tag for the port?

I am trying to set up a research networking lab, currently have about 15 crs all linked to a central crs. We will have loads of vlans serving small subnets that will be assigned to researchers. I would like to keep the 15 switches as similar as possible. So I like the idea of MAC based VLAN’s that way I can keep the configuration more dynamic. To avoid having to populate MAC to VLAN tables on every switch, is it possible to store this MAC to VLAN table off switch? Something that can be looked up elsewhere? I am currently using radius for dhcp. Would be great if I could hook the two together somehow…

Any answers or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

James
