CRS: What makes this device "cloud"?

Please correct me if I am mistaken. It seems to me that the CRS, or Cloud Router Switch, should not be named as such because it lacks the Tilera processor. Because of that, it both dilutes the related CCR brand and also sets the wrong expectations as to usage scenarios for the device. I think many people, if they don’t read carefully, will be sorely dissapointed with this device. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a great product. Bottom line: it should be branded something else to reduce confusion.

Hm.. what makes the Tilera chip in the CCR “cloud”?

This is what happens when the marketing department takes over…

Hype…

To me cloud means many thousands of connections. It assumes something off in the distance capable of handling many remote objects.

The name is Cloud Core router. Your cloud network infrastructure could be connected by CCR units. The CRS units also offer extensive software features, like tunnels, routing, VPLS and things to connect your networks to the cloud.

Well, marketing (but the same thing).

cuz clouds are fluffy, and capable hardware makes me feel fluffy inside.
