CRS109-8G-1S-2HnD-IN and 100/100 mbps wan

Hello,
Iam looking to buy new Mikrotik router. RS109-8G-1S-2HnD-IN would be great but can it fully handle 100/100 mbps wan, in environment with few clients and fw rules.?

Don’t worry about this. A CCR1009 will be pretty bored with this load

I got worried because everyone is telling that it is more switch then a router and that it cant handle the wan traffic efficiently.

oh i didnt notice at first but iam not talking about CCR1009. I was asking about CRS109.

Oh…
My fault. Sorry.
I frankly doubt a CRS can handle (NAT+Firewall) a 100/100 line…
Yes, the CRS series are basically switches, not routers.

Sorry again,
-Chris

Since the CRS109 has a 600mhz processor and 128M of Ram… shouldn’t it get numbers like the 2011s?

http://routerboard.com/RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN

In the 512 byte table is shows >200M with 25 Firewall Rules.

From experience with a CRS125 and RB2011 it can handle 200Mbps to 250Mbps of throughput, but not with a too complex rules set in it. So if your configuration is not that tough, sure, it should be a good fit.

If you do wish to a bit more CPU heavy things (VPN’s, etc.) then no, it cannot handle this.

would you consider the rb2011 for a hotspot with limitations to users bandwidth that also manage payments machines. Is it too CPU intensive?

Like others have said, a 2011 can handle 200-300mbps nat with minimal rules. With a good firewall 230mbps is the limit of the 2011. Not 230mbps/230mbps, 230mbps TOTAL.

If you need traffic shaping, don’t bother with the CRS109. If you just need a NAT router with a good firewall, it’ll work but you will be close to the limits of the CPU if you max the upload & download, which shouldn’t be a problem.

it will handle 100Mbps traffic just fine. if it can handle 230Mbps with simpler configuration.

Thanks. I just bought it, will test it on weekend.
