CRS109-8G-1S-2HnD-IN as SFP WAN router

Hello!

I would be interested in buying this product, but I have a few questions before I buy.
Because I’m a first time user of SFP, will this router/switch allow me to use the SFP as a WAN port?

The internet from my ISP (providing 1gbps downstream) is arriving in my home via a fiber optic cable and I want to use this router/switch (CRS109) as my main in house internet provider for all my device (PC, laptop, smartphones, etc.).

Now, the ISP provided me with a ZTE GPON ONT ZXHN F620, which I am using at the moment. Could I use the CRS109 instead of it?

And I use a router for connecting via PPPoE, connected to the ZTE GPON.

Thank you in advance!

ROuterOS let you use any port as WAN port.

The CRS109 won’t be able to keep, this device is conceived as a switch which can do also do routing/firewall tasks, but it doesn’t have the power to keep up with 1Gbps.

For 1gbps the minimum I would go is a RB1100AHx2, CCR1009-8G-1S being the ideal choice.

Regarding the ONT, it depends on your provider, ask them.

Be carefull, SFP for PON networks are not compatible with Mikrotik devices !
(not tested myself, but I read that several times)

So, I guess you need to keep the ONT device from your ISP.
And plug it to your Mikrotik device with copper RJ45.
