CRS210-8G-2S+IN 10gig performance

Hi everyone,

I am looking at potentially using a CRS210 to act as a media converter/switch for a 10 gig fiber link using just the 10gb slots.

What I am wondering specifically are two things:

  1. With the dual XAUI shown in the block diagram, is the CRS210 capable of doing wire speed on both 10 gig ports?
  2. Can I use a ZX SFP on one side of this connection, and twinax on the other? Any particular brands I should consider over others?

Thank you!

You can get wirespeed on all of the interfaces.

Yes, you can use that combination of transceivers. No comment on brands tho, Possibly some other user can jump in to answer that one.
Either way any vendor modules/DACs can be used in our HW as long as those modules fit the required standard.

Thank you.
I was concerned about the processing power of the unit and if it was capable of handling the entire 10gig throughput - for the application it will definitely be necessary.
We have Proline optics for this, not sure if anyone has experience using them.

If CRS is configured in switch mode then throughput should be no problem.

Forgive the thread resurrection, but I am looking for ANY information (published, or otherwise) on the buffer depth of this switch, especially when going from 10G to 1G.

Thanks!

CRS210 has 6Mbit packet buffer divided into equal parts between switch ports depending on port maximum speed.
