hi, I bought the CRS212-1G-10S-1S+IN switch, the documentation says: “Our CRS series combines the best features of a fully functional router […] removed from the configuration switch, and used for routing purposes.”
Unfortunately I can not find any indication to do this.
I’m sorry, maybe I wasn’t very precise. I explain better my problem.
I can’t get good performances from my CRS. if i make the bandwidth-test
between crs and netmetal connected to a SFP interface I can never get more than 70 / 80mb.
i try some tests on the switch->port menu and i see that the results change.
seems that the switch configurations limit the throughput
You don’t want to run bandwidth tests FROM the devices themselves, you want to run the tests THROUGH the devices. All CRS devices have weak CPUs, so they simply can’t support the kind of results you’re expecting using the traffic generator.
The CRS is primarily a layer-2 device, and can pass layer-2 traffic at wire speed, but it simply doesn’t have enough CPU power to reach even 1 gbps at layer-3. Yes, the CRS can be used as a router, but that is not what its hardware is optimized for.
