CRS310-1G-5S-4S+Out/ netFiber9 will not boot to SwOS

I purchased a new netFiber9 switch recently and after upgrading the RouterOS I attempted to switch the device to SwOS and it failed. I was unable to connect to the device. No collection of IP’s would work.

I reset the device using the reset switch procedure restoring RouterOS. I attempted to make the change to SwOS using the GUI and the CLI commands I found with the same result.

I used the serial port to see if there was some hint. The screen just repeated dots after indicating it was trying bootp.

The process that resolved the issue for me I found in a MikroTik document, highlited in RED.

I can’t promise you it will work for you but it ended a two hour session of trying to switch from RouterOS to SwOS when all else failed.

Read about device-mode, if you do not unlock "routerboard" you can not change or boot to SwOS

Well lookie here! At the bottom of the RouterOS documentation on device-mode. I need to print the manual and sleep with it under my pillow in the hope I will absorb more of it. Thanks Yader!
