CRS310-8G+2S+IN brick

hey my 1st post here…after purchasing this CRS310-8G+2S+IN in RoS mode it works flawlessly all ports and sfp were detected…
but after switching to boot via SwoS mode…it suddenly cannot be seen on winbox…

  1. tried reset…no luck
  2. netinstall works but after installing the OS…it still not visible in winbox…anybody has encounter these??

thanks

Winbox and SwOS are two quite distinct things. Winbox is OK for ROS-running devices, one needs web browser for SwOS.

one needs web browser for SwOS.---- yes the problem is it has an option for SwOS..and i did some few seraching that some have done running these to SwoS…
after reboot boom! cant be dtected…but i tried netinstall tested with several versions…7.11.1-4 with no luck…:frowning:

CRS devices which can dual boot ROS or SwOS are a bit nastier beasts. You said you netinstalled device with “7.11.1-4” which doesn’t conform to Mikrotik version notation … so not sure what exactly did you netinstall, but it might indicate you installed ROS. Indeed winbox should help accessing such device. But I’m not sure whether netinstalling CRS with ROS actually switches it to boot ROS (if booting SwOS was configured previously).

it was installed with an RoS 7.11.1 or 7.11.2 if im not mistakin…i just tried switching to SwOs…after rebooting…
winbox or via Swos cannot be detected…port 2,3 4 5 6 7 8 all not detecd…while port is detected…wierd thing is it succesfully installed ros…
but still cannot be access on winbox…but port 1 can be detected on myb laptop…mac address is visible on netinstall…but winbox no luck…any clue?

what i meant CRS310-8G+2S+in is Ros installed…not SwoS…

I’m out of ideas. You may want to ask support@mikrotik.com if there are any other options (if device had serial console, then you’d have option to boot back into ROS and proceed from there).

i guess thats the last thing i should do…anyway thanks!

Hello Docslaxorg,

I had a similar experience. After enabling SwOS, I was no longer able to get a link. Using Netinstall to net boot the device and install RouterOS 7.15.2 completed successfully, but it didn’t seem to bring the device back to life.

Did you have any luck resolving the issue?

Thank you.

Just an update if anyone comes across this in the future. I managed to get SwOS up and running. Here’s what I did:

  1. Reset: Held down the reset button during boot until the flashing light appeared. RouterOS then booted.
  2. Assigned an IP to the switch that could access the internet and DNS.
  3. Ran these commands:
    /system swos upgrade
/system routerboard settings set boot-os=swos (can also be done from the Winbox GUI.)
  4. Rebooted the switch from the WinBox GUI, and SwOS loaded successfully
