CRS310 unmanageable

Hi Forum,

I need a bit of help. I have a CRS310 with 2x10G SFP+ and 8x2.5G.

I’ve completed uploading the standard configuration and the switch starting to become uncontrollable with the fan blowing at the highest levels, all ports (SFP+ and RJ45) shutdown and box unreachable.

I have tried to unplug/replug power, doing a hard reset by power it off and handle the reset button while power it on again. No result.

Would anyone have a clue on (a) what could have happened and (b) how to regain control/reset it to factory defaults ?

Thanks

Laurent

Remove SFP's modules (if any) first thing.
The fan might go astray because of a temperature sensor or anyway because of the SFP.
Then your next best chance Is console.

That’s what I did in the first instance but no change. Is the console accessible on this device via the USB port ?

Thx

Check for the loose heatsink inside poorly glued to the chip, detached in shipping and causes overheating.

My bad, I thought you were talking of this model (that has a console port)

while I now understand you are talking of this other one:

If this is the case, yes, there is the possibility to connect with a serial USB adapter, though it seems that access is possible only in a later stage (compared to the direct console):

The issue looks to be at the early stage of the boot. i.e. the ports are even not blinking and Netinstall doesn’t see the device. I don’t think heat is an issue at that stage of the process and it looks more a bootstrap issue with Mikrotik. Does anyone believe the USB Port would be enabled at that stage ?

Thanks

Laurent
