CRS317 SwOS boots with no connectivity

Hi,

I have a CRS317 booting into SwOS v2.10p and I cannot ping the device with the IP address given through the serial connection. It says its at 192.168.88.1 but it is not responding when connecting through the single gigabit ethernet port. It looks like a known bug according to this thread, but I’m new to Mikrotik devices and don’t understand how the author in that post was able to get into the SwOS interface and change settings. All I get are these options through the serial interface:

I - board info
r - reset configuration
b - restore configuration
x - reboot
g - upgrade software

Short of sending the unit back and hoping for one without buggy firmware, is there anything else I can do to try and get this working?

Hi

once u boot into the switchOS

you will only be able to login via web interface on IP 192.168.88.1 or 192.168.88.2

so u have to setup a static ip on your pc NIC interface on the same range in order to be able to connect.

then u can upgrade it to switchOS 2.11 via the web interface

It looks like it was indeed a bug from 2.10

From 2.11 changelog:

*) CRS317: make speed forcing work on management port;

In fact I was able to connect to 192.168.88.1 through a copper GBIC on any SFP+ interface, but not through the MGMT interface.
Then I upgraded to 2.13 and everything worked as expected.
I suspect the problem was with the auto-negotation feature of the management port.
