CRS326-24G-2S+RM VS RB4011iGS+RM

Hello everyone,

Need to change and overloaded RB3011.
Main usage is:

  • Two GPON connections @300mbps down / 100mbps up, from ISP (working with PPPOE negotiated from Mikrotik)
  • Tree ports working connected to different network (routing mode)
  • Five ports working in a bridge (ports 6-10)
  • Some rules (no more of 10), in mangle prerouting, for balancing the two GPON links, and priorize some clients only with one PPPOE connection.
  • Network scenario basic: firewall rules (public ip address in two pppoe interfaces), classical basic IP routing, none IPSEC.

What equipment recommends? CRS326-24G-2S+RM , or RB4011IGS+RM?

Thanks!!!

You do significant routing & firewalling. CRSes are switches, not routers. This is changing with the advent of L3 offload in ROS7 for some CRS3 series switches, but a) the CRS326 isn’t among those, and b) L3 offload is as yet very basic, and won’t do much of firewalling (except NAT, in 7.1b2).

This goes to the RB4011.
