CRS326-24G-2S+ SFP+ 10G Link Flapping with Intel X520

Hello together,
I’ve been trying to get a 10 Gbits link up and running for some time now, unfortunately the connection is flapping with an intervals of some secounds.

Hardware setup

  • Router: CRS326-24G-2S+ with SwOS 2.13 and temperature around 73 deg.
SFP+ Module Router: 10Gtek 10GBase-LR (Mikrotik compatible FW)
    SFP+ Module Intel-Card: 10Gtek 10GBase-LR (Intel compatible FW)
Intel X520 PCIE with 82599EN Chipset from China, Firmware (EFI: 7.9.0, PXE: 2.4.45)

The RX power level on the SFP+ module is fine (between -5 and -3 dBm).

Tests performed so far:
CRS326-24G-2S+ Slot1 Loopback via singlemode-fibre: stable
CRS326-24G-2S+ Slot1 to Slot2 via full in-house singlemode-fibre cabling (so cable test included): stable
Intel X520 Slot1 Loopback via singlemode-fibre: stable
Both connected and 1 Gbit/s (with and without flow control): stable
Both connected and 10 Gbit/s (with and without flow control): flapping

I’m running out of ideas on what else I could test. Unfortunately, the support can’t help me either. Are there any suggestions from your side?

Best regards,

Stefan

The problem could be solved by replacing the SFP+ module in the Intel Card by an module from fs.com (FS P/N: SFP-10GLR-31 - Generic). The MikroTik Router is working with both modules (10Gtek and FS).

Stefan
