CRS326-24S+2Q+ all of a sudden ROS7 only?

Hi,

I have at least 30 CRS326-24S+2Q+ (r2) running in our datacenters, all happily running ROSv6.

We’ve now received 4 new CRS326-24S+2Q+ (r3) units, that we are attempting to deploy. These devices to our surprise, came to us with ROSv7 (which, we don’t deem as production ready).

Both a software downgrade, as well as a NetInstall, rendered all 4 units useless and are now expensive door stops. Not even the serial console shows any output.

There is also NOTHING in the CRS326-24S+2Q+ datasheets that reflects this sudden requirement for ROSv7?

Mikrotik? Any words of wisdom?

which, we don’t deem as production ready

v7 is out for what, 4 years? My suggestion is to re-evaluate your requirements. v7 is very stable

Have 2 v7 devices in our network, work on them every day, and no, I am not happy with v7 yet.

Why not please just address my concerns, instead of pushing your v7 agenda? Since when are the CRS326-24S+2Q+ v7 only, and why is this not reflected in the datasheets like you specify the requirements for ROSv7 in your other products?

Devices can’t be downgraded below factory version. Apparently new revision has some chip changes that can only work with v7 kernel. So there is nothing you can do to run v6.

Then please UPDATE YOUR DATASHEETS so that I don’t buy crap that I don’t want!

Will do, but be warned, nearly all devices come with v7 now.

Unless you have specific critical issues that you have reported directly to MikroTik, please do not spread misinformation about software stability.

There’s no misinformation - it’s all over the forums. As you don’t have a ROSv7 long-term release, but instead, only a stable release, your software releases breaks things horribly (or not). Upgrading a ROSv7 device is like playing Russian Roulette.

Even 4 years after you started on ROSv7, I still see frequent posts of people loosing configurations, having to re-install devices, because of failed upgrades. That is not stable in my books, and one of the biggest reasons why I am staying away from ROSv7.

Pull up your socks, maybe then people will accept ROSv7.

Do you have any bug reports to show? Time passes, bugs get fixed. Try 7.10.2 - works nicely.

Hire me as a QA engineer, and I will “try” it for you. Not my job, and not on my networks.

Anyways… Moving on…

We have tried. We have an actual testing department. It works great

Don’t believe anonymous people on the internet, believe the people who actually test it.

Beside os downgrade, wondering why bootloder do not respond. Can’t you trigger backup bootloader with long pressing reset button while powering?

Can you still flashFig between different revision switches.. Ive been configuring a CRS326-24S+2Q+ and set the stable channel.. it reports “System is already up to date” and I have another 3 to setup and im concerned they might be on V7..
