I have two CRS328-4C-20S-4S+ and the contractor supplied FiberStore SFP-FE-BX SFPs for hooking up a small neighborhood. There are RB960PGS routers on the other end. When we first hooked these up across the fiber, they auto-negotiated at 100M-full but passed no traffic. We set the SFP modules to 1Gbps-full without auto-negotiation. The ports go into running state only when there is two way light. On the CRS, we see TX packets but no RX packets. If I move the SFP to a sfp-sfpplus port, then set it to 1Gbps-full, we have a good link. Unfortunately, there aren’t enough sfp-plus ports.
Anyway, that proves the SFP-FE-BX’s are working. They also work in the sfp ports of a CCR1036-12G-4S and the RB960PGS, and pass 1Gbps traffic both ways.
I’ve tried RouterOS 6.44.3 and RouterOS 6.42.10. When I downgraded to 6.42.10, one (!) of the several sfp ports which should be active passed traffic! I touched it and it went away. Never came back. I’m guessing there was some sort of fluke as the CRS came up from the downgrade. I’ve been unable to reproduce. But, it appears that the SFP’s can be made to work in the CRS.
Is there anything known about issues with the FiberStore SFPs in the CRS328? Is there some data I can gather to help debug this?
Below is the SFP information for two units. Both should be up and running. There are 960PGS on the other end.
