Did anybody tried to mod CRS354-48P-4S+2Q+RM with noctua fans? I am running a CRS354-48G-4S+2Q+RM (without PoE) just fine.
I am aware, that 700W PoE on CRS354-48P-4S+2Q+RM is not even realistic to use with noctua fans. Could this work, if only low PoE power is needed? I have 6-8 devices, which would draw maybe at maximum 40W all together.
On my CRS354-48G-4S+2Q+RM, all fans ramp up, but with noctua, noise is just fine. Running at about 4500-5000RPM. Switch-Temp about 57 degree and stable for years now.
That’s why I am asking, since I would never use 800W full. My CRS354 runs currently about 30W in normal usage for me, so with PoE, i would think about 70-80W at max.
Since CRS354-48G has 4 fan headers (or maybe it was by y-cable, I am not sure), I put 4 noctua fans in it
Yep, what I was trying to say is that the devices - notwithstanding the similar names - are very different, what works with one may not work with the other.
BTW, even if Noctua fans have very low airflow, having four fans instead of three clearly helps.
On the 48P you have not extra connector to add a fifth or sixth fan (and there Is not much space anyway), and I believe that the factory fans essentially work as two couples.
So, very likely (and at your own risk) you can replace the two fans of the PSU if you limit the current needed, but the heat from the chips/board won't change, so It Is improbable that two low noise and low airflow Noctuas can replace 1:1 (actually 2:2) the high noise and high airflow factory ones.
