CRS3xx: Bonding mode "active backup" with hardware offload?

Hi,

I want to to use a 1GBit connection as fallback for a 10GBit connection between my CRS326 and my ESXi server.
As stated in the wiki hardware offloading gets disabled as soon as I set the bonding mode to active backup. Are there unfixable technical reasons for this?
If so, how should I realize my fallback? Of course I could set it to 802.3ad or XOR and disable the 1GBit connection on the switch. If 10GBit is unfixable broken, I would have to enable the 1GBit port (manually or by script) but I´m a little uncomfortable with this.
Better solutions?

Regards
Martin

Yes I need this as well.

I do not understand how this is not available already.

Is there a timeline?

For this usecase, you don’t need to use bonding at all: On ESXi side assign both physical interfaces to same vSwitch, set 10G interface as active and 1G as standby. On your CRS just treat them as separate ports to the same networks, ESXi will handle failover on its own.
