While evaluating the CRS804, we noticed unexpected fan LED behavior. Each hot-swap fan module has a light guide, and we confirmed with a flashlight that there is a corresponding LED on the PCB beneath it.
However:
- Normal operation: The PCB LED does not light up blue to indicate normal operation (unlike other hot-swap switches).
- Fan removal: Removing one or both fans does not trigger either PCB LED to turn red. (Note: I am referring to the internal PCB LED under the light guide, not the front panel Fault LED.)
Note that there are no options in RouterOS to control or configure these fan LEDs.
Is this LED behavior intentional on the CRS804, or is it a known bug/unimplemented feature? Other Mikrotik switches/routers using the older generation of hot swap fans behave as expected.
