CSS326-24G-2S - Where is WATCHDOG IP address to ping!!!???

Recently installed CSS326-24G-2S+RM for 10Gb SFP+ uplinks, and for whatever reason we’ve had rain fade on a link 2 hops downstream and would cause this ROOT/core switch to lockup and need rebooted.

Causing 30-40 minute outage on our network while waiting for someone to go reboot, I enabled Watchdog to prevent a truck roll. However, there is NO PLACE to put watchdog IP address to ping!!!

Defeats the whole purpose of watchdog right?? And dont tell me the switch is “smart enough” to know when there’s an issue because 3 times now we’ve had to power cycle it by hand

I have same problem, 3 times in this week switch go down and i have to turn it off and on, it has watchdog enabled but where do i put the ip to look for?
Thanks

I have the same question and issue. CSS326 locks up and it needs a reboot.

I don’t believe that the WatchDog timer is for a specific link, but rather looking for internal process locking up. Hence, no IP to be pinging.

There is not much information about the “watchdog” feature in the CSS326 SwOS manual.
https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/SwOS/CSS326#System

Watchdog > Enable or disable system Watchdog. It will reset CPU of the switch in case of fault condition

I am guessing that the SwOS watchdog is not the same as the RouterOS watchdog.

15 months now and still not an answer, glad I don’t use these anymore, a little shocked that over a year and Mikrotik still has no response to this though!

Have you even asked mikrotik? Or just this community forum?

Looks like the Watchdog doesn’t work in all cases. I have it enabled but the switch hangs for hours rather than rebooting.

Suggest you write to support@mikrotik.com with details so they can make a bug report and get it fixed then.

Thanks but I cannot say more than what I have written in the forum and what was written by other people with same problem. This bug is very sporadic, nobody will be able to reproduce this at MikroTik. The switch doesn’t have a serial port so can’t say what the switch does when the problem occurs. No very helpful either. I wish I could help resolving the bug. I cannot say more than that it hangs.

But if no one reports it as a bug, Mikrotik wont try to find it. Talking about here on a users forum does not constitute a trouble report.
