By the way, the factory installed firmware is a release candidate, and there is no stable/final version that could be downloaded. You were right, I could find the downloadable firmwares under https://mikrotik.com/download, but CS610-8G-2S+IN firmware is not among them.
Mikrotik needs to get on the ball with this one. It’s been far too long to have a RC firmware on this product. It barely functions as a dumb switch with SFP+ Capability at this point.
Still is the same… There are no newer stable SwOS for CSS610 on Mikrotik Software download and there is an error on manual upgrade (CSS610-8G-2S+ SwOS 2.12rc2).
I have a problem with remote access via SFP when VLAN is configured and there is some problem with stability and communication.
Are there similar problems with CSS326-24G-2S+RM ? I’m thinking about getting CSS326-24G-2S+RM units instead of CSS610. I just want to make sure that they don’t have such obvious problems before I buy them.
please add CSS610 on the official https://mikrotik.com/download page and publish an official SwOS release for the devices.
Or should we consider the sold boxes as RC, as the firmware versions suggest?
I’ve seen only SwOS v2.12rc2 and v2.13rc5 so far.
Please bring these devices to an official and normal support state.
I have just received 3 of them - Looks like the default version I got is 2.12.0 (no rc).
But the basic configuration I have tried with an uplink trunk with only 3 tagged vlans was not working (although
I had already something similar on a CRS326-24G-2S+).
I have tested the 2.13rc5 mentioned in the thread (thanks @cholegm) and it now works.
I did not noticed it was not SwOS, but “SwOS lite” before buying - will I have to regret it ?
Took delivery of a couple of ‘CSS610-8G-2S+IN’ yesterday, both came with 2.12 (not RC) ; googled a bit and ended up on this thread, saw you mentionned RC5 for the CSS610, there is now an RC6 available from the same thread mentionned by cholegm :
We have created a new testing version (rc6) which addresses some of the VLAN related problems, but the management connection from the SFP+ port is still being investigated. In some cases, it might help if you disable the RSTP on SFP+ ports and reboot the switch, but make sure there is no L2 loop on these ports. Let us know the results.
As for the VLANs, I would suggest trying these settings:
Disable the “Add Information Option” under the System menu
For access or untagged ports, use “VLAN Mode = optional”, “VLAN Receive = only untagged” and specify the “Default VLAN ID”.
For the trunk or tagged ports, use “VLAN Mode = strict”, “VLAN Receive = only tagged”.
Make sure to include all the necessary member ports for each VLAN ID under the VLANs menu.
In case you are using tagged VLAN for the device management, I would also recommend using a static IP configuration:
Set “Address Acquisition = static” and configure “Static IP Address = x.x.x.x”.
The rc6 version still contains some VLAN issues (e.g. when using “Allow From VLAN” or enabling “Add Information Option” in the System menu), so I would first suggest trying the above configuration. If you are still interested in upgrading, below are the latest testing versions:
