I recently (last couple of days) switched to a different Mikrotik router in one of my areas. Since then, one of my customers says that he is constantly losing his connection. So he power cycles his home router and the connection comes back.
Normally I would say this is a problem with his router. However, he wasn’t having the issue until I switched my network routers. Maybe I’m wrong, but it seems to be an issue with DHCP. It’s as though his IP lease is disconnecting or something similar. And I fear that other clients are having the same problem, they just haven’t told me.
Here are my basic DHCP server settings.
Lease time: 1d 00:00:00
Authoritative: Yes
Bootp Support: static
If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. Thanks!!!
It would be useful to know what version RoS you operating on the AP and the client unit, what signal strengths the client unit is connecting at, the signal to noise ratio of that unit when connected, as well as the TX/RX CCQ on the link. This may be a starting point for a proper comment on what might be causing your problem.
Also is important is the protocol being used (802.11/NV2/Nstreme etc), wireless security in place (if any), access list being used… Many variables that can be causing issues.
Mikrotik RB1000
Ros: v5.2
Ubiquiti wireless connection
AP and CPE: v5.3
Signal strength at the AP: -60
Signal strength at the CPE: -61
Noise floor at the CPE: -90
Transmit CCQ% at the CPE: 90%
Transmit CCQ% at the AP: 96%
Wireless security: WPA2
Any thoughts on this? Anyone have any experience with a customer who keeps losing their connection and power cycling their router restores the connection?
