Date changes during bootup

Hello again :slight_smile:

This is my environment:

ROS version: 6.9

RB firmware: 3.10

When I boot the router and look at my log, I see that the clock shows December 31, 2001 for the first 14 seconds or so and then changes to the correct date and time. Is this by design or do I need to configure something? humm, or maybe that is the date/time when the OS was installed?

It is the time until your routeboard connects to your network and the internet and gets the correct time.

So the clock defaults to dec/31/2001 until its fully booted?

Yes, fully booted and can contact the NTP server to get the correct date/time. Mine defaults to jan/01/1970, but I have older firmware so that could be the difference.

It is an unfortunate problem, but there isn’t a battery or anything on the routerboards to hold the time… so until it can hit an NTP server (e.g. your internet connection is up) thats the time you get.

Thanks everyone for the responses. It makes sense, no battery.. I can work around that :slight_smile:
