RouterOS Beginner Basics

Hi all have a mikrotik router board and switch my problem is the both want to be the DHCP server with the same IP how do i turn the switch to be a client?

Any help will be great trying to build up my networking skills

What switch do you have? If its unmanaged L2 switch, you cant.
Your router can be DHCP server and assign IP’s from its address pool that you create for it on specific interface.

what i have done is set it to Bridge and is half working dropping off some hardware like nas servers

Connect using winbox then on the CRS go to

IP > Addresses to delete static IP
IP > DHCP server to disable the DHCP server
IP > DHCP Client to add one to the interface connected to the 2011

As Pukkita said, do all that and on router enable DHCP server on that interface that you are connecting your switch.
Add address pool that you want and it should be done.
