dead eth on POE?

We have had some radios (532s in dce boxes with proper grounds etc.) where the eth on POE dies. The other two eth ports work fine. its happened to 4 of them now and i was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem?. Could there be a problem with this batch of radios?

Thanks,
Neil

Over the years there have been reports that the POE port on a RB5xx is a little more sensitive to static or electrical surges than the old RB2xx series was. I remember taking a lot more calls to RMA a 5xx for blown POE ports than I did for 2xx boards.

Ground everything, use lightning/surge protectors on your ethernet cables, consider running the cables in conduit when possible.

And keep spares handy.

These boards aren’t that expensive and I was always surprised at the number of calls I got from companies that had lost an AP to a storm and were frantically calling vendors to locate a replacement, because they hadn’t kept a couple of spare boards on the shelf.
