Dead ethernet link

Behold, I bring you a mystery.

I’ve an 80m non-poe ethernet link between an RB433 and a PC. It will be very difficult to repair or replace and has, naturally, failed.

My LAN tester reported that lines 1,2,7 and 8 were dead so I recrimped the ends replacing green with blue and now the LAN tester shows the data-lines 1,2,3 and 6 to be live with the other (poe) lines dead.

However the link remains as inert as the integrity filter in a Congressman’s head.

I’ve tried clicking my heels together three times, but my shoe size must be too large for that to work.

Anyone know the magic word?

Perhaps whatever damaged the green lines (lightning, surge, etc) also damaged the RB433 port itself (and/or the PC port).

You need to test the RB port and the PC port with a known-working device temporarily.

Yes, that’s possible. I’ll give it a try. Thanks.
