After upgrading one of our Routerboards to ROS 2.9.23 , the problem with ether1 device - which died and no traffic get throught and whole RB had to be rebooted to force it to work again - is finally banished. But, since then, wireless connection started to behave badly . Time to time, for no apparent reason, connection die - no TCP/IP , no ICMP gets throught - but card on other side is still connected . Man has to disable wlan and enable it again, card on other side reassociate and then it work again - for hours, or few days . Then again it die and man had to do the same again. There is PC with linux + madwifi-ng on the other side, but it worked for several months without one single disconnect - that same RB ↔ that same PC with unchanged version of kernel, madwifi and stuff - nothing changed , only version of ROS on the RB. Since that change there has been about 7 of that dead ip link problems in about 10 days. So i guess it is problem of latest ROS. Anyone else noticed that too ?
This just happened to a PTP link I had up, it is 2.9.17, same issue, I could MAC-TELNET into the remote end, rebooted both units,
this is an NSTREAM link, but polling is OFF ( I had polling on and link was stable for over a week) and also using compression

I have this problem on several of my units. I’ve tried 2.9.18-2.9.22 and the problem still happens on my rb112, rb512, & rb532. I’ve found I don’t have to reboot, I can just disable the IP address and re-enable the address and it comes back to life. I’m using CM9 and SR5 cards.

using cm9 and cm10 cards here , strange is that haven’t happened before - on <2.6.23 , maybe just luck , but luck which is lasting for 2-3months is not very likely . As you say, disabling of interface is enough and imo that means that this could be relatively easily fixable /
I’ve found using the wireless legacy package seems to correct this. I do loose some overall speed though, but I guess stability is more important.
I’m now running into this problem on the wireless legacy package. Anyone else seeing this? I find it hard to believe that nobody in the wireless forum is having any problems with this.
Well I’ve found this is apparently a problem with hardware compression. Went back to the standard wireless package and killed compression and I have not gone down in over a day now.
i just bought one rb112.
It has version 9.23 inside, it si running about 3 days.
CM10 card is in station mode. on the ethernet side there are 8 PC connected.
Problem si that time to time ethernet interface dies and RB needs to be rebooted. Can installing new version solve this bug.
Or what shoul i do ![]()
thx.
