You need to find out the gain of your antennas…
For a given rate, treat it as reliable if you have 20dB over the sensitivity.
Docmarius thank you for your reply! but i just could not know how to use the wireless link calculator, how to get the information about Power and Rx sensitivity if i did not install the link yet ? and is there anyway to estimate the bandwidth of my link ?
Yes there is a way.
All devices have a specified Tx output for different modes and speeds.
And Rx sensitivity is also specified in the device’s data sheet for different modes and speeds.
So, if you target e.g. MCS7 you find the numbers in the specs.
The same goes for the antennas.
And then you have all data needed for the wireless calculator.
If it states “Reliable”, then that particular mode will probably work.
Also note that you need clear sight. No clear sight means no link on 5 GHz.
A single line of trees is already introducing a lot of loss, don’t even think about going through a forest or a building.
