debian pptp server + mikrotik pptp client

Hi all,

I have the above problem. It has been working for a half year without any error but the last 2 weeks client stopped once each day. It always tries to login but gets a timeout error. The client disabled and enabled don’t help but the complete reboot. This is my border gw, so it’s a quite big problem.

Parameters are the following:

Debian linux, standard pptp package, nothing special. The config contains just 1 user, and 1 client IP address.

Mikrotik P4 PC, 2.9.51.

I think debian doesn’t have any problem because if I reboot the mikrotik, the system works fine. Any other function in mikrotik works fine.

I need to use any of the VPN between these units because there are some important services on the debian such as radius server and another provider also uses this segment too.

Does anybody have any idea about solving the above problem?

I’m not a big linux guru but if the solution is to change the pptp to another VPN (connected in layer 2!) then I can do it if it is not too difficult in debian.

Thank you

gyoztes

just to be sure… did you tried to reboot debian instead of mikrotik?

enable ‘pptp debug’ logs and see - maybe there will be something useful…

Yes I did, and tried a complete system upgrade, but nothing changed.

Ok, I try it.
