I am setting up my home internet using hAP ac (RB962UiGS-5HacT2HnT-US). I reset my hap Ac to factory defaults, updated to the latest FW, added the admin PW and rebooted. No other config changes.
I have a 300 Mbps input modem that I connect to the hAP ac in port1. I expected that the throughput to my PC, via port2, would be near 300Mbps, but I consistently only get around 90Mbps. I measure this using Ookla speed test on my PC.
If I hardwire my PC directly to the input modem, I get in excess of 300 Mbps, both up and down. As expected.
I did not adjust any of the port settings, and have power cycled both the modem and the hAP ac.
Should I expect 300Mbps from port 2? Any ideas of things I should check?
Check port speeds on the connected ports. Probably a cable not suitable to provide 1Gb.
If so, throw the cable away or make a permanent mark on it indicating speed issue (or you will run into the same problem later on).
Having said that … check test results on product page of that device.
Clean as it is now, it should be fine for most traffic with your current ISP speed.
But you may run into border cases as far as throughput is concerned with that device, depending on how you configure it further down the road.
(e.g. add some firewall rules and address lists and it may sometimes not reach that 300 anymore).
