Is there a way to change the default page that comes up when someone puts in the public IP address of our MT router? I would like to use something other that the default WinBox page that comes up.
Thanks
Mike
You should have it setup so that only devices you specify can access your routers.. if your users can access your router, thats usually not good
..
but you can change the listen port for winbox (www is the service you want to change) from 80 to whatever you wish..
/ip service
yeah, and also you can dst-nat all that requests to an internal network server
This router is located in a remote spot and the power is not available to run additional equipment. The only way that the outside world see’s the router if they know the Public IP address for it. I wanted to change the Winbox default page to something else.
Keep in mind that internet bots / search engines will eventualy find your router’s public IP and will catalog the default page.
Some one “looking” for open routers or for open relays (see squid config.)
will search on key words on the mikrotik default page and they WILL find your router eventualy and try to hack it.
Making your router available only to your network is a good idea.
If you need to manage it remotly, use a vpn or terminal server or other method to manage it remotly.
Just something to think about and keep you up at nite…

Sooooo is there a way to change the Home Page or am I stuck with it?
No. You can either disable it at all, or redirect it to, say, google.com. You can also try some tricks with web proxy (like access lists or parent proxies), but i do not know if it will solve this problem.
hotspot is your answer…
you can set hotspot page without using hotspot features…
