Default password not working after factory reset

Hi,

I was probably stupid in buying a ‘preconfigured’ Mikrotik routerboard Hap from a popular shopping website. It was
pre-configured to the VPN of a provider but there had been posts on their website that you could reset it
if you wanted to change the provider.

I just wanted it ‘next day’ so I thought I could just factory reset and enter the VPN details of my own provider.

I did the factory reset .It is now showing logged onto my network as a device called ‘mysetup’

When I connect to that ip address I get the prompt for username and password. User is defaulted
to admin

So, I’ve tried blank, admin, password, 1234.

It’s so annoying, why isn’t the password the default that everyone says it should be (which is blank)

It’s running RouterOS v6.37.3

Does anyone have any idea ?

Hello

Probabily the vendor make a propietary default configuration, so when you use /system reset-configuration no-default=yes you are using the configuration of your vendor instead default configuration from mikrotik device.

You can try making netinstall to format routerOS software and configuration.

Thank you for your advice. I will try the netinstall, I’m just trying to get to grips with how to communicate
with the router using the laptop.
