Default Route Problem

Good Afternoon
I need help here with what might be a simple issue. I have an RB750Gr3 Router and I’m using it for one purpose only, running a PPTP Account that has a Static IP Address and therefore port forwarding for the ports I need opened. And the router is connected to an ADSL Modem.

My problem now is that every time the Internet drops and comes back on again, the Mikrotik “loses” the correct Route list and has to be Rebooted. Once rebooted, there’s a Default Route it creates, which prevents it from connecting to the PPTP connection.

This means I lose Remote Access to the Network and have to physically drive to the premises to; 1. Reboot the Mikrotik. 2. Delete the Default Route it creates, 3. Reboot the Firewall (Because as the Miktotik goes On and Off, the Fortinet Firewall picks it up as Off and therefore no connection happens through the Firewall)

I have 3 clients with this router, all scattered around, furthest being around 150Ks from me. Since installing it, I’m at their offices weekly, because this happens almost daily. This is a big crisis for me and i need help.
Thank You.

I am guessing you are using PPPoE for ADSL connection, so maybe disable “Add default gateway” in PPPoE config which might solve your one problem.

I am a bit confused to what is happening here and the flu medication I am on is not helping, so maybe if you can post the config of the router here (export hide-sensitive) and by visualizing it it might make more sense and maybe to assist better

PPPoE client gets ip automatically and other parameters; gateway, dns’s

So it is a good reply from CZFan.
