Hi everyone…
I have purched license for my router. But I didn’t put in on the router, because I was dealing with some LAN drivers because the rotuer didn’t recognized the LAN card. But what I did is I left the router on more than 24h and demo license expired and now the router won’t let me do nothing. Router show me reinstall the router but if I reinstall does the router changed the software ID which menas if it change I will lose the license the one i purched.
Any ideas

The licence is tied to the system hard drive only. A change of all other system components does not affect your licence. Net-install will ensure your retail the same System ID as long as you don’t change your system hard disk. DO NOT FORMAT THE HARD DRIVE IN DOS OR WINDOWS!
So, go ahead and use net-install to reinstall the ROS.

really i don’t have deep information about it ,how it will helps and what it could do .

Net install IS your freind here…
You need to make a note if the LIC ID that the router displays (before shutting down) and use that ID to purchase a LIC key. Any authorised reseller (yes I am one) or MikroTik dirrectly can sell you a license to re-activate the box.
Make sure you sellect “keep current settings” when tou use net install.
The manuals give some good information RE netinstallation.
You can obtain NetInstall from the MikroTik website via the same page you obained the RouterOS packages.
On the RouterOS download page look to the right… You will see a link to download NetInstall…
You will want to make a boot floppy (It looks like you are using a PC)
Enable network boot support in the NetInstall application.
REMEMBER TO CHECK KEEP CURRENT CONFIGURATION !! or you WILL have a bad day..
Re-install the same version that you are (were) currently running.
I would then upgrade to the latest release.

yes , I have some questions .
first are you able to give me an idea about the level 4 and above license price ?
second if i get a new license and before using it i export all my configurations and format the Hard disk and install it again and upload the LIC to it and then configured it with my old settings i collect from export command .
What will happen ?
and later if i reformat the hard without keeping the old configurations and settings what will happen ? .
can i use the Winbox to upload the new LIC or i have to use Netinstall ?
also i think no one still using floppy disk , why i should make one ?

You ask how can you buy and put license on your computer.
First you have to install the OS download form mikrotik.com. After you install the OS you have to go under
system license and get system ID:
In that router configuration interface ether1 or ether2 and connect with UTP and try to open via winbox.
After you open the winbox the router will give it to you two options License and OK.
Ok before that you have to buy but I don’t know but I can find out. But to pas there license on the router that’s it.
You just copy the license logon to the router via winbox click license and than the router give you the options past key .
Router will reboot and that’s it.

I have questions regarding the LIC which i wrote them above .
like what if i format the HDD with the MikroTik CD ? will i lose the LIC ? and if export my old confige and then install new ver with LIC and import the old configuration , will it make conflict or not ? .
also i download the OS ver 3.4 from the MikroTik web site and i didn’t find the web proxy or ip proxy npk files in them , i took photos and uploaded them to the forum under the topic a very starnge case .
also i am asking from where i could buy the LIC .

if the SoftID didn’t change, then simply get the Key from your mikrotik.com account and paste it into the system

No if you want to upgrade the router from CD the router will ask you do you want to save your old configuration you just press y which means yes.
The rotuer will format the disk and rollback your old configuration and the System ID will not be changed I had this problem before,no worry’s my man . If you running Mikrotik on PC don’t format the HDD with different OS like Windows XP or somthing else.
License need to by prouched form Mikrotik Website.
