just a simple question. I am currently running an evaluation MT server (see my other posts concerning DHCP). Will the registered demo license support external radius authentication?
On one of my interfaces I have a wireless PTP link attached and working fine. On the remote end I have a Ascend MAX for dial-up users. The radius authentication is timing out, basically.
I dont think the “freebee” does?
(watch me be wrong…)..
Check the MikroTik website.. look under pricing I belive, there is a matrix with levels / features.
For a guaranteed “demo” (lasts for 24 hrs of “run time”) with all features ON, install a copy without installing a Lic. key..
This demo is “wide open” for 24 hrs.
I need a visual of the network you supplied earlier… I cant follow the verbal..
In the radius button on the left side of the WinBox / MT console.
I have PPP and login checked. Called ID box is unchecked and empty (I have read a post where it cannot be blank, or it will not work at all).
I have my domain in the domain box, and checked
My Radius server IP is in the address box
I have my radius secret in the secret box
Auth port is 1645 (I have an older radius version)
I do not use accounting.
Timeout is 600
I simply want the request to go through the MT and reach my radius server, and the end user be able to receive the radius response so they can get logged in (on my dial-up remote access servers)
When I said the radius request would go “thru” the MikroTik, I meant it would “pass thru” like any other paket… Radius client if used to auth. “local” resources IE wireless clients. (local to the router) … FYI the lvl4 Lic will allow you to use UserManager (a radius server of sorts)..
10 users at a time…
I hadent heard from you yesterday before I left for the day… so I thought all was well…
if you have IM drop me a line at craig dot sickles at microage.com
I dont want to clogg up the forum…
I will post the resolution for general referance…
ok, I still don’t know if the demo license supports radius pass through or not. I can only assume it does, but like I said, I went ahead and purchased the next level license anyway.
Turns out, I had forgotten to enter the secret key for radius for the MT router into my radius client file. It started working after that.
