Devices discovered disappear from the map

Hi to all,

I have a problem with the discover feature on the Dude v3.0. When I put an IP range to discover (for example 10.65.0.0/24), the Dude starts to scan all the range, and the devices in this range start to appear in the map, but disappear in a few seconds.

This is the configuration of the discover:

The program is working in a Dell Optiplex server running under WinXP Pro SP2.

Do you have any idea about this problem?

Many thanks in advance.

Has ‘Discovery’ ever been useful after, at most, the first time?

Once you run it and find the majority of devices on the network, add the new ones manually. If you dont, for whatever reason it cant find a device it previously found, of course it will erase a device it thinks no longer exists…Discovery is dangerous for that reason…

Discovery has always seemed to behave this way…

I think the OP said that Dude shows the device on the initial scan, but after scan progresses (the same scan) the device disappears. it could be because you have unchecked “add serviceless”

This is the problem I have, I tried to check “Add serviceless”, but the result is the same:

bumping this thread:

I have had this too - according to me this is when it happens:

  • Create a new device and/or assign a device to a device group
  • select autodiscover (or configure automatic discovery) but exclude this device group from being discovered
  • the Dude then removes it as it was not meant to be discovered (Mikrotik logic?)

re-produced this yesterday and today.

Correct me if I am wrong.
