DFS Mode and Weather-Radars

Hi,

I got a question if anyone of you got some experience with DFS Mode and weather radar.
We live an rural mountainous area and we run quite a big wireless network (about 200 Mikrotik devices). As we have to maintain more than 100 wireless links it is quite a challenge to find good frequencies.

There is a weather-radar running close to our area (about 30km, not in line of sight but high output). It broadcasts a 5 Ghz signal every 60 seconds. Since we have to use DFS mode we are not able to maintain a stable link. Is there anyone out there having a similar problem? Does anyone know if DFS mode also detects false positives areas with a high usage of 5 Ghz Wifi?

Thanks in advance!

Find out what the frequency that radar uses. Then try to avoid it by using very directional antenna’s.

Use a spectrum analyser (with memory) to see what the radar does.

Please send your message to support@mikrotik.com because they asked here on the forum to tell them about any DFS problems
