DHCP Bound but "waiting"

This is more of an annoyance and easily fixed by setting devices to static, however its much easier to move them around when they are bound in DHCP. DHCP works fine, devices are reachable by the assigned “waiting” IP. I can reboot devices and the status goes to “bound” state but eventually goes back to “waiting”. All the devices are surveillance cameras and 2 Geovision PoE switches.

I’m running a CHR 6.46.1, Ive seen this behavior with RB750 as well. Anyone have an ideal why the surveillance devices keep going to “waiting” state?

What is your lease time?

1 minute. Bad habit, I program routers remotely with technicians and need faster response from DHCP.

Probably that small lease time is the root of the problem… increase it to lets say 1hour just for testing and see if the problem continues…

done, Ill give it a day and post back tommorrow. Thank you.

“waiting” means the lease has expired at the router side and the client has not renewed it. This is indeed likely caused by an excessively short lease time.

Well, 4 days later and they are still bound. I was able to set the DHCP on those devices independently, nice Mikrotik!

Thank you Zacharias

You are welcome…
