DHCP CPU usage high,

Howist,

I just wanted to ask. Does dhcp server use allot of the routerboards cpu?

Cause i have a rb433 setup just as a dhcp, no nat no nothing and there are about 50 clients and the board chills at liek 60-80% cou usage?

Why is this?

I was looking under firewall and there are 25000 connections>? I just find this quite odd?
The Ethernet usage is also like 600kbps tx and rx.

any thoughts?

weird..

If i disable the DHCP server for a min the cpu usage does not go down?

Could it not be that the dhcp is telling the computers that this mikrotik is the gateway and then there is no internet connection connected to the mikrotik so every pc keeps talking to RB wanting internet and then it has to reply and say ther eis no internet?

\

???

Just BTW:

IT was the /16 subnet

That is possible. Have you determined if that is the case? Because it’s impossible for anyone else to tell without you posting your DHCP server configuration together with IP address information from that router.

Im pretty sure that it was that.

I meant to make it /16 its just i didn’t know that it was so resource intense.

When i removed that it worked fine.
