Hi,
I was successful setting the dhcp server on ether2 of a RB493 for private IP addresses 192.168.5.x/24 routing thru the public interface on ether1, and having clients browse out. Is it possible to do this for public addresses? I have 128 public IPs with a 255.255.255.128 mask. The .2 is the IP address for the MT ether1, using .1 as the gateway address (the ISP router, which is not a dhcp server). Now I would like to give clients on the LAN side of the network public addresses thru the Mikrotik’s dhcp server.
I became confused whether this can (or even should?) be done this way, because I realized I don’t know what IP address to assign to ether2 facing the client computers. Ultimately I would like to turn on a hotspot so I can bandwidth-limit each connection. Is the Mikrotik board able to do this type of thing?
