dhcp issue

Hi
i have some problems with my DHCP…
dhcp is runnig on eth3 and i have assigned a pool (192.168.1.2-192.168.1.189),
but, DHCP sometimes assign addresses behind 189 (f.e. …195) but it shouldn’t, or? it clearly says only from …2 to …189

any idea?

thanks

Greetings!

Just checking…but are you setting the correct IP pool? My dhcp servers (sometimes multiple on one box) have not gone out-of-range so far. As long as I know what IP pool they are using.

Also, my boxes will hang on to old leases after I change the pool range. Maybe the IP was an old lease?

thanks for fast answer

the ip pool is the same for the last year…
as i say from …2 to …189 are costumer ip addresses (ip pool)
from …190 to …199 are reserved for second pool for nonpaying costumers
they are redirected to a webpage
from 200 to 254 are static ip addresses for routers etc.

today, at the first time, some customers get the ip from nonpaying pool,
but i have not changed their profile or pool… thats the problem
i looked at the leases but there aren’t leases behind …189
but in the arp table i found the addresses..
can someone explain that

i’ve solved it by adding an another pool ..100.2-..100.20 for nonpying customers and redirected to a webpage, but i’m not shure what happaned with dhcp,
perhaps it happens again
so i want know what was the fault…
perhaps someone has ideas what could happen

THANKS
GREAT Forum here!

Which IP addresses did you find in arp? The good ones or the bad ones?

the bad ones (190-199) and some static ip’s
