I would like to set my DHCP (which is working fine with a lease time of 280 hours) to a lease time that never expires, indefinitive bounded.
This is because I am assigning tcp/udo port with dst-nat to local IP clients to allow them using emule and wouldn’t want ip to change
any help
thanks

i would suggest to use a “normal” lease time, e.g. 48h and create fixed dhcp entrys
see:
http://www.mikrotik.com/docs/ros/2.8/ip/dhcp.content
section dhcp-server, dhcp leases.
this will assure, that a given client (MAC) always gets the same ip-address, but still enables a central management of network data.

Do you also have people using p2p on your network? what do you do with them?

ok thanks.
I was meaning:
do you use dst-nat to make them having a high ID?
do you limit the connections per user ?

what do you mean by high ID? i’d guess this is something p2p-specific.
do you limit the connections per user ?
no.

yes
in Emule you need your port open to allow you to a high speed of up/download, this is indicated by your ID number (low no good, hogh perfect)
if you are using local private IP with NAT or masquerade, you need to use dst-nat
yes
what I do about fix dhcp entry is with the winbox to doubleclick and the say copy and save it
the D of dynamic goes away and looks like static, but it still countingdown the lease time …
how can I bound eternally the IP to a lease and mac ?
I am surprised that also putting it manually is countingdown the time and says expire after …
