DHCP Leases - Comment

Hi,

Couple of quick questions.

  1. I’m wondering about the comments that we could give to DHCP leases.
  • Are they stored within the mikrotik itself or within the winbox software?


  • If it is stored within winbox software, how can I export or back it up? That way when I reinstall windows, I can simply import the said file.
  1. Another question, how can I undo IP that is static, as in make it Dynamic again.

  1. They are stored in the router

  2. Delete the lease from the router. After current lease expires (or rather when lease age raches half of expiry time), device will try to renew the address and DHCP server will deny that, at the same time it’ll offer another one from normal address pool.

Hi MKX,

For question 1, do the comments get backed up too if we do a backup of the mikrotik?
