DHCP problems with 2.9.x

Since upgrading to 2.9.6, I have been having problems with DHCP both with and without using the hotspot service. On two routers, I have the hotspot set up and running. I created it with the setup option in hotspot. On the other router, I was running the hotspot server, but removed it, and am only running DHCP now and allowing all addresses through. The problem I am having on all three routers is that users who previously obtained an ip address, but then turned off the computer or switched devices (like adding a router in line) can not obtain a DHCP address anymore on either the original machine or the new device. If I assign them a static IP from a different range than is in the dhcp pool, then they can again access the internet. If I clear all the entries out of the hosts table associated with their mac addresses, and delete the lease from the DHCP leases table, and clear all arp entries associated with thier MAC address, then and only then can they SOMETIMES pull a new IP address from the DHCP server. On the one router, I removed the hotspot server because the hotspot server I had set up kept reporting invalid interface even though the interface (a bridge called wireless) was clearly there and valid. Any help on these issues would be great. I have upgraded all routers to 2.9.7, but the issues continue.

i also had that problem, and it seems related to to wireless cards you use to make a connection.
i had some cheap atheros based tp-link cards, and they al have that problem. also tested it on different MT routers, but no dhcp ip, so i put them static.
did find a permanent solution yet.
but i’m sure it’s the clients card that has this problem.my oppinion buy other cards.

It’s not the client cards. In one location I have a mix of just about every manufacturer you can think of. It is an apartment complex with 560 users all with desktop or laptops with thier own adapters. I know several other wisps on the part15.org forum who are having the same problem with MT 2.9.6.

In the hotspot setup, how many MAC do you allow? Default is 2

I turned the feature off, so I’m assuming it is unlimited. I’ve tried it with differnt numbers as well with no different results.
