Did I wipe out my Dude database?

Upgraded RB1100Dx4 used exclusively for The Dude from 6.48.9 to 7.16.1. Did not think to backup the Dude database! After enabling The Dude, I found no entries whatsoever. No devices, no links, no nothin’! Are there any files in the Files section I can use to resurrect? Can I downgrade to ROS 6 to recover? Methinks I have to rebuild many hundreds of entries. I hope someone can tell me otherwise.

Did you look at Files in winbox, and see a dude.db someplace. If so, you’re be in luck… And, one simple possibility is the “disk name”, or RouterOS, slot= changed in the upgrade. For example, from disk1/ to sata1/. And the upgrade does not change the dude directory, so it’s may be looking for its dude.db in the old root path (disk1, not newer ones like usb1 sata1 etc. used in V7)

Beyond the Files window, look at System > Disks in winbox, since other issue like it not mounting the sata/etc disk is another possibility. Or at least you confirm your disk appears and online.

Generally speaking, upgrade is unlikely to have erased the disk. But if you did store the dude stuff on the small built-in flash drive, not the “real” disk… all bets are off.

Amm0, thanks so much for the response!

Once you set me on the path of the Dude’s directory, I found the dude.db file you said was key plus data files under sata1-part1. The key was to reset Dude>Settings>Data Directory from to <sata1-part1/dude-data>. I recovered everything. I am so relieved. Made a backup right away, too!
