different speeds.

I have hotspot setup and all is well. i also have dhcp server setup.

what i want to do now is bandwith limiting.

the first speed i’d like to set is Modem like speed for users who dont want to pay so much

then faster than modem

then faster than the above two

three different profiles

my question is in what format do i enter in 56kbps and where?

do i just input 56000 in the “USERS” profile section when creating a new profile under Hotspot or is there another way?

There are few ways to set bandwidth limit to your HotSpot clients.
Create different HotSpot profiles, set ‘rate-limit’ for profile,
e.g. ‘ip hotspot user profile> set profile_name rate-limit=56000/56000’
sort different users to different profiles.

right. thats all great and dandy but am i right in saying 56kbps gets typed as 56000 ? so basically when i type 56000 i am limiting the user to 56kbps back and forth to the routeros box so he/she cant take anymore bandwith.

its in the documentation… read it sometime

56000 - bytes
56k - kilobytes
56m - 56mbytes
etc etc etc

i would when i have time. also, what section if you can point me in the right direction.

can i actually type it as it is above? 56m or 56k ?
