make sure your bootloader was upgraded before upgrading RouterOS. ie. type “/system routerboard upgrade” while still using v3.28
If the key gets lost, you can alsways re-paste it into the router, as the keys are available in your account. the RB can lose the key if you have some old bootloader
Where are the keys for RouterBoards purchased from dealers? The reason I ask is that I don’t see them in my account at mikrotik.com.

You can generate the key in your mikrotik account, once you specify a valid software-id.
If you purchased it from a dealer, you have to tell the system that this key must be in your account, and this is done in “request key” section of your account. Actually, the reseller should have done it.
